Poland has relaxed drivers‘ working hours regulations

Poland recently relaxed drivers‘ working hours regulations allowing drivers to drive up to 11 hours a day. This change came into force on March 4th and will be removed on April 2nd. Together with this reform, several other rules were implemented:

    •    Driving hours cannot exceed 60 hours per week.
    •    The total amount of driving hours in a period of 2 consecutive weeks cannot be greater than 96 hours.
    •    If the driver has been driving for 5.5 hours without stopping, he is obligated to take a break that must last at least 45min.
    •    Drivers are allowed to take their resting periods inside their vehicle if it is equipped with proper sleeping accommodation and if the truck meets the necessary hygiene requirements.

If the drivers exceed the permitted driving hour limit, they are obligated to manually list the reasons of doing so in their tachographs. Simultaneously, drivers are not allowed to break the regular rules if it puts road safety at risk.
