The toll system on motorways between Paris and Normandy will be changing soon. From mid-December, vehicles will no longer have to stop at toll booths to pay for road tolls – instead, they will be charged automatically and remotely.
On the A13 and A14 motorways, new structures with sensors and cameras will be used. In this way, the value of the toll will be calculated automatically, based on the vehicle's registration number, taking into account the travel distance and the vehicle category.
Drivers will have to pay the toll within 72 hours. Payment can be made in three ways. Drivers who have a Liber-t toll payment device attached to their windscreen will not have to take any additional steps. The charges will be automatically credited to their account. Drivers will also be able to pay their tolls using e-banking services - by logging in to the Sanef website, they will be able to pay for the tolls online. Lastly, drivers can also pay their tolls at physical shops in the Nirio network.
Drivers will be fined if they fail to pay the tolls on time. Drivers will receive a reminder after the 72-hour period has passed and a €90 fine. This fine can be reduced to €10 if the payment is made within 15 days. Drivers will be fined €375 if they fail to pay for the tolls within 2 months.
