Road bans in Europe in July 2023

This July many European Union member states plan to implement new weekend road bans that did not exist before. Simultaneously, additional restrictions will be introduced in many countries such as France that will be celebrating national or international public festivities this month. Given this, in this article we provide a list of countries and dates on which truck bans will be in force in Europe.

July 5th, Wednesday

  • Restrictions in the Czech Republic will apply from 1 p.m. until 10 p.m.
  • Restrictions in Slovakia will apply from midnight until 10 p.m.

July 6th, Thursday

  • Restrictions in the Czech Republic will apply from 1 p.m. until 10 p.m.

July 7th, Friday

  • Restrictions in the Czech Republic will apply from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m.
  • Restrictions in Greece will apply from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. and from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. on certain roads.
  • Restrictions in Romania will apply from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. (on the road DN39 – Agigea – Mangalia), from 12 p.m. until 10 p.m. (on some sections of the A2 road) and from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. (on some sections of the DN7 road).

July 13th, Thursday

  • Restrictions in France will apply from 10 p.m. until midnight.

July 14th, Friday

  • Restrictions in the Czech Republic will apply from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m.
  • Restrictions in Greece will apply from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. and from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. on certain roads.
  • Restrictions in Poland will apply from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m.
  • Restrictions in Luxembourg will be in place from midnight until 9:45 p.m. and will apply for everyone driving towards France.
  • Restrictions in France will apply from midnight until 10 p.m.
  • Restrictions in Romania will apply from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. (on the road DN39 – Agigea – Mangalia), from 12 p.m. until 10 p.m. (on some sections of the A2 road) and from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. (on some sections of the DN7 road).

July 21st, Friday

  • Restrictions in the Czech Republic will apply from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m.
  • Restrictions in Greece will apply from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. and from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. on certain roads.
  • Restrictions in Italy will apply from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m.
  • Restrictions in Poland will apply from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m.
  • Restrictions in Romania will apply from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. (on the road DN39 – Agigea – Mangalia), from 12 p.m. until 10 p.m. (on some sections of the A2 road) and from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. (on some sections of the DN7 road).

July 28th, Friday

  • Restrictions in the Czech Republic will apply from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m.
  • Restrictions in Greece will apply from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. and from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. on certain roads.
  • Restrictions in Italy will apply from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m.
  • Restrictions in Poland will apply from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m.
  • Restrictions in Romania will apply from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. (on the road DN39 – Agigea – Mangalia), from 12 p.m. until 10 p.m. (on some sections of the A2 road) and from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. (on some sections of the DN7 road).

On Saturdays (July 1, 8, 15, 22, 29)

In July Saturday road bans will be in effect in the following countries:

  • In Austria from 3 p.m. until midnight. Restrictions will also apply on A12 and A13 Brenner motorways (from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m.) for those driving to or through Italy and those driving to or through Germany.
  • In the Czech Republic from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. 
  • In Greece from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m.
  • In Italy from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
  • In France from 10 p.m. until midnight. On July 15th, 22nd, and 29th the restrictions will apply from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
  • In Hungary from 10 p.m. until midnight (this does not apply to trucks of EURO 3 and higher categories operating in the international transport sector). On July 15th the restrictions will apply from 3 p.m. until midnight.
  • In Germany from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. 
  • In Croatia from 4 a.m. until 2 p.m.
  • In Luxembourg from 9.30 p.m. until midnight for those heading towards France and from 11.30 p.m. until midnight for those heading towards Germany.
  • In Romania from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m.
  • In Slovakia from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
  • In Slovenia from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. and from 6 a.m. until 4 p.m. on some roads.

On Sundays (July 2, 9, 16, 23, 30)

In July Sunday road bans will be in effect in the following countries:

  • In Austria, Germany, and Slovakia from midnight to 10 p.m.
  • In the Czech Republic from 1 p.m. until 10 p.m.
  • In Greece from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m., from 6 p.m. until 11 p.m. and from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. on certain roads.
  • In Italy from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m.
  • In Croatia from 12 p.m. until 11 p.m.
  • In Luxembourg from midnight to 9:45 p.m.
  • In Liechtenstein and Switzerland throughout the entire day.
  • In Slovenia and Poland from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m.
  • In Romania from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m.
  • In Hungary from midnight to 10 p.m. (this ban does not apply to trucks of EURO 3 and higher categories operating in the international transport sector).
  • In France from midnight until 10 p.m.
